STONEHEDGE

Tuesday Sept. 10th 2019

I drove to Stonehedge today but not before driving once again through the New Forest.
In New Forest I saw pigs!  There was a mom and a few babies digging through the leaves and I guess looking for acorns which is what they're supposed to do.
I went on a different road to see different animals and saw the most beautiful horses in the woods and small fields.  But the pigs!  They were right along side the road so close to my car but weren't bothered by me being there.
I bought a ticket for Stonehedge admission online and checked off I would be there by noon.  So being 40 miles away I had to leave here by 10.  Driving through Lindhurst although very beautiful takes a long time. I reached Stonehedge at 11:30.  I did a little reading about Stonehedge so I knew what I would be looking at.  After parking my car and walking into the visitor center, I waited in line for the next bus to take me down to the "stones".  A bus left every 5 minutes or so with about 40 people on it.  So there were a lot of people.  I walked around all the stones, took many pictures and decided to walk the 1 1/2 miles back to the center instead of waiting inline to catch the next bus.  A few people opted to do the same.  I was really glad I did because the walk went through an enormous field bordering the stones.  It was a peaceful walk with lovely scenery and sheep all around.  It was mostly cloudy with a few blue skies poking through.  Comfortable temperature for the walk.
I headed back down towards the shore and ended up in Bournemouth on the beach.  It reminded me of Hampton Beach with all the carnival stuff.  I rode the ferris wheel and could see nothing but beaches up and down the coast from up top.  But staying at this carnival in this very big city was not my jam so I headed the 11 miles East towards Milford-on-Sea.  I did by some miracle pick a most lovely, quiet beach town to stay in.
My biggest challenge this trip is not to not get lost but not to get hit or hit anyone or any thing.  Autocrossing in my youth is paying off.  I still got it!
Tomorrow a 4 hr. drive to the west coast in Tintagil

A few quips and banter:

-Why were there so many crows at Stonehedge?  I will look it up
-There are NO bugs anywhere
-how can there be 6 exits in the same roundabout?
-only red squirrels on IOW.  If caught bringing in a gray squirrel...
.....big fine and jail time.
-why am I wide awake at 2am after sleeping 5 hours when at home it's only 9pm?
-I have not seen one single stray cat or dog
-the best strawberries in season NOW.  Wonderfully sweet. No white inside.  All growing up onto little teepees
-why the underline keeps showing up on this page
-Doves hooten and hollerin all the time
